Hello my Friends,

Another week down and it seems the pull of colder darker days is winning out over the memory of summer. The cold seemed to settle in almost overnight. As we push into this time of year, remember when you come out, be prepared for wet, muddy and cold conditions. Even if you don't think it's supposed to rain, throw that rain jacket in the car along with a pair of boots anyway. Better to have and not need than need and not have. Remember for those of you that sign up for projects the rain doesn't stop us from working the fields. In severe weather I try and keep us out of it but sometimes that's just not possible.

There is going to be a few changes to this blog moving forward. I started out only focusing on the farm side of the sanctuary. That is going to shift a little to encompass all animals that are new to the sanctuary, and adoption returns. Both are important and sometimes not widely reported (even to me). I am working at fixing this communication gap, but I've found that it can be a slow process. As always, I will do my best to keep everyone informed.

Only a couple updates again:

  • We don't have too many pig adoptions these days, but we did this week. Congratulations to Zero and Oogie pig from our lovely potbelly family. The adopter had 2 pigs and one passed away. Pigs are social creatures and so was in need of a friend, or friends. Our Lead Pig caregiver Brandi transported Zero & Oogie and helped with introductions. So far so good, will keep you updated as I am.

  • The bridge project is finally almost over. Tuesday the pavers will come in and shut the road down. If you were scheduled for a shift on Tuesday, the 14th you should have received an email from Jen letting you know your shift has been cancelled. If you didn't get it check your spam folder. Of course, if that email went to spam then so too did this one.

  • We have 4 new dogs in Dog Town. Panini, Toast, Tug, and Bogie moved up from the healing barn on Monday. They are little dogs that could use some socialization. Toast, Panini, and Tug are very friendly and love attention. Bogie is friendly but nervous and a bit skittish. They are cute dogs that haven't had the best life yet. Dog town folk let's start changing that and helping them, so they don't have to stay long before finding their forever homes.

Ok that's it I hope you all have a great weekend and week ahead. Like I said, the weather is getting cold, wet and evening daylight will soon be a distant memory. Be safe out there and I hope to see all your smiling faces out here real soon.

Stay Amazing!
