Hi! Jen here. Week 1 of Shane being out. It's oddly quiet in this office.......
Weird weather this week. Apologies to Kelly who got soaked by Thursday's unexpected downpour! Remember that when it's hot, there are popsicles in the freezer in the People Barn.
Dog Towne is full! Lots of pups to keep you busy. You might see some familiar faces up there.
Otis continues to make good progress and you will see that the barn from lower pig yard 3 was moved up to the Flower Girls' yard for him! We're going to need a new name for that yard. We can't keep calling it the Flower Girls - if you think of something clever (and clean!), let me know! Otis is still staff only, but I hope you will take time to watch and admire him over the fence. Tell him what a great job he's doing if he's up and about!
The 4 remaining alphabet sheep girls went to their new home on Wednesday. They have a nice flat pasture and an older goat as their new friend. Send them all the good thoughts.
Enrichment room upgrade - we're so close to being done! My plan is to start cleaning all the items and start moving back in next week. Fingers crossed that it happens in that timeframe! I am going to be buying white boards for the 2 BRAND NEW UPRIGHT FREEZERS so we can label what is in each one to try and keep it organized and inventoried.
The June volunteer newsletter will be coming out next week, so keep your eyes open for it. There's a lot of great animal updates in there for you all. It'll take you 5 minutes to read through so please do! I (Jen) work hard on it every month and there's a lot of great info in it for everyone.
There is a big box outside of the volunteer office with clothing in it. A former facilities employee had a bunch of gear embroidered with the PSH logo and it is all up for grabs. It's mostly size L from what I've seen but I have not looked through it all. Help yourself! There are also a couple of jackets hanging by the volunteer office door with the logo on. Those are up for grabs, too.
Our Compassion Days are nearly full for the summer. If you are ever interested in helping lead these groups on projects, email me! Or if you have a project in mind that a group could help with, let me know that, too!
We are bringing back the Get to Know Your Team area! To fill out the form and see an example of what I'm talking about, go here: http://pasadosafehaven.galaxydigital.com/get-to-know-your-team/
If you are on Facebook and a member of the volunteer group, check out what happened to Ashley G. on Tuesday and try not to laugh. I dare you to try. But it is a good reminder that it's wallowing season so the pigs are going to be especially muddy at times. Sorry, Ashley!
There is 1 room in Kitty City that is quarantining still, but when I was in there yesterday, I was told that folks could go in there to socialize as long as it's the last room of the day and you spray down your clothes and shoes when you leave it. It's always a good reminder to NOT pick up your cats until you have changed your clothes after a Kitty City shift. There aren't very many cats in there so let's hope that our Rescue team is working on something soon!
The Healing Barn continues to be empty or primarily empty, so no volunteers are needed down there until further notice. When we fill up again, I WILL email you.
If you are looking to do a little wine tasting, Dave and I will be at Synne Cellars in Woodinville this Saturday 5/31starting at 1:00 for a plant sale (veggies) that is benefiting Pasado's. Come buy some plants and sip a little vino!
