Hello My Friends,
I apologize for not posting an update last week, I had one last long vacation weekend on the books. That's it till next year so hopefully no more choppy updates for a while.
Not a whole lot of news this week or last which in a way is good. All the residents are enjoying the sun, playing in the sprinklers, wallows or kiddie pools. It is a beautiful time to be out here at the Sanctuary. We are definitely in the lazy days of summer, and this is a mighty fine place for it.
I do have one or two minor updates I need to pass on.
- We are in the middle of a grand old chicken shuffle. As you all know the number of our feathery friends in the Aviary is a bit overwhelming and as it turns out not too safe for the chickens either. We are moving some to at least two locations. 1st which is good news will be in with Shirley. He's been all alone since his long time partner Black Beauty passed away a couple weeks ago. There are 5 girls that will go in with him. They have been moved down to the healing barn for quarantine. Shirley isn't a young chick anymore so the last thing we want to do is bring someone in with a condition that could adversely affect his health. The 2nd is the maintenance shed. That building directly across from the hound hut and old barn. Our facilities crew is building a fenced enclosure on the back end, which should be done this week. I don't know exactly when these moves will happen but very soon.
- The second is the new enrichment computer and schedule. For our amazing enrichment volunteers if it hasn't already been sent out Jen will be sending an email explaining the computer and how it all works soon. We are not expecting everyone to understand right away so please, when this all kicks off, ask as many questions as you need to. Try it out for a few shifts and then give us your honest feedback. What works what doesn't and any suggestions to improve.
Ok that's it I think. Like I said, not a whole lot to report from the last couple weeks. I hope everyone has been able to get out and enjoy the summer weather. Today is a little gloomy but its just one day and the sun will be back. Have a great weekend and week ahead and I hope to see you all out here soon.
Stay Amazing!
