Hello Everyone,
Oh January I hardly knew ye. What in the world happened to this month, if this is any indication to how fast this year is going to go, I'm going to need to get my holiday bitching started soon. Ugh.......on the bright side, we had a heck of a bright side this month. What an awesome run of sunny days we had, it had to be one of the nicer Januarys I can remember. I'm not even too upset over the coming rains. I think all that sun was like hitting the reset button and I'm ready to finish out the soggy rest of the season.
I Just have a couple minor updates this week nothing too earth shattering. The main news is for the enrichment crew and Dog walkers.
-With the help of some seriously great project volunteers over the past few weeks, we have constructed another new trail. The main purpose of this was for the enrichment crew to solve the issue of George and Peppy now hanging out in yard 2. I know most of the time you can get the gate shut before they get there but in case you can't and don't want to walk all the way around to Nanni & Noodles yard, we have another option. We constructed a very nice path that starts to the right of Peppermints yard and follows their fenceline to the back of yard 2. Its shorter than walking all the way around by the healing barn with less elevation. The whole trail is actually a lollipop loop; we just cut an access into the back at the fenceline. There is this small empty enclosure behind Nanni's yard that this trail now gives you access to with a secure fenceline for dispersing treats. You can get access to Nanni's yard from there if you need to, but you have to enter into Peppermints yard briefly to get to their gate. If any of this sounds confusing don't worry If you walk this, as long as you don't miss the turnout it will all make sense, just stay left. This is just an options for you to use or not. Dog walkers or really anyone this loop trail is really beautiful and perfect for dog walking. There is very little elevation gain and lots of fern and vegetation to sniff and pee on (dogs preferably). The trail is .25 miles long and is well marked so you can't get lost. I walked it from the people barn and came back on the creek trail and it took me about 20min and is just under a mile. Oh, and for those that don't know the term lollipop loop its basically a loop trail that enters and exits from the same point. I'm tentatively naming this trail Fern Gully.
-The last two kittens in Kitty City were adopted out this week, but don't fret, 4 more have found their way up from the Healing Barn. No shortage of kittens or cats for that matter lately. I think there is still more to move up down there.
I do not think I have anything else to pass along. I feel there is something else and I'll probably remember after I post this. Oh yeah, the volunteer meet up is tomorrow at Black Raven Brewery in Woodinville. We have a decent turnout so I'm really excited to see you there. We asked that you RSVP so we know how many to plan for, but I know plans change and if what you had going on Saturday afternoon fell apart don't worry about it just come out. Its 2 - 5 and we would love to see you. Nobody is checking off a list anyway. Details are on the Volunteer site under "Events".
Ok now that's it for the updates and sanctuary news. I hope to see you all out here soon if I don't get a chance to see you tomorrow. Have a great weekend and week ahead.
Stay Amazing,
