Week 3 Highlights and New Action Alerts for Week 4:

  • HB 1904 - banning cat declawing:
    • Week 3 recap:  No change. This bill is still the Rules Committee waiting to be scheduled for a House floor vote. Our new action alert for this bill went live on Wednesday. We have social media posts running that are being picked up and amplified by our partners, and 680+ emails have been sent to legislators by their constituents through our system in just four days. This bill is VERY popular (and is safe from the Feb 4th deadline).
    • Week 4: NEW ACTION: Complete our new Action Alert to ask your representatives to vote for this bill on the House floor.

  • HB 2247/SB 6072 - expanding vet telehealth access:
    • HB 2247 Week 3 recap:  No change.  This bill is still in the Rules Committee waiting to be pulled for a House floor vote. It is safe from the Feb. 4th deadline. We have a new Action Alert for this bill as well.
    • Week 4: NEW ACTION: Complete our new Action Alert to ask your representatives to vote for this bill on the House floor.

  • HB 1608 - farmed octopus sales ban:
    • Week 4: NEW ACTION: This bill is safe from the Feb 4th deadline. Complete our new Action Alert to ask your representatives to vote for this bill on the House floor. 

  • HB 1735 - prohibiting force-feeding of birds:
    • Week 4 activity:  This bill is scheduled for a vote in the House Agriculture & Natural Resources Committee on Feb 4th (the deadline!).  If you haven't already completed our Action Alert posted back in week 1, please do so now!

  • HB 2542 - requiring the use of alternatives to animal testing methods in drug development
    • Week 3 recap:  This bill had its public hearing in the House Consumer Protection & Business Committee.  It is now waiting to be scheduled for a committee vote prior to the Feb. 4th deadline.

  • HB 2516 - banning the use of certain anti-coagulant rodenticides
    • Week 3 recap: This bill had its public hearing in the House Agriculture & Natural Resources Committee.  It is now waiting to be scheduled for a committee vote prior to the Feb. 4th deadline.

  • HB 1078 - restricting pet insurance cancellations and nonrenewals.
    • Week 3 recap:  This bill was passed out of the House Consumer Protection & Business Committee on Friday. It is safe from the Feb. 4th deadline. It is now in the Rules Committee waiting to be scheduled for a House floor vote.
