Hello Everyone,

How is everyone doing? The weather has been beautiful. Maybe a bit too hot too early last weekend, I wasn't quite ready for it but overall it feels nice. I would normally try to prattle on a bit more here about this or that but I'm excited this week because I have an important update for everyone so let's just get after it.

  • I love it when we get adoptions on the farm side of things. I also love it when it's not last minute and we have a decent heads up that its coming.  One of our Leap kids came out with her family for a meet and greet with Doll. Adopting Doll was already decided before the meet and greet, what wasn't decided was who will be joining her, and it's still not. Amy was their first choice but during the visit Donna became super sweet and now they are undecided. The adoption won't happen till the end of the month so get your last minute pig cuddles in now. As soon as I know when they will be leaving I will let you all know. Who the second will be probably won't be decided until that day, so treat it like both Amy and Donna are leaving. I mean why not hope they take all three, wouldn't that be amazing!
  • The cement slabs are due to be poured tomorrow (Friday) so hopefully we can get the NARN yard back to normal soon. If you're coming out tomorrow just be aware that the cement truck will be on site all day. There are 5 slabs being poured, Healing Barn, Pig 3, George & Peppermint, NARN & the shop. It will be a busy hot day for the work crew.
  • Staying on the barn, I know the new super stall is making cleaning harder, especially if your alone. Don't feel like you have to do everything in your shift. If you can't get all the bowls done its no problem. If you can't even get to the bowls its still no problem. Anything you can do is one less thing the caregiver has to do so it's all appreciated. Just do what you can and don't stress out about finishing. Seriously we're just grateful you're here helping at all.
  • With temps around 80 again this weekend and near 90 next week, make sure you are staying hydrated. Bring a water bottle and use it. There is a refill station in almost every bldg on the property. Those of you volunteering with Projects, NARN, Enrichment & Dogs are at a higher risk of a heat injury. If you get overheated pop into one of our air conditioned rooms and take a break. The Enrichment room, Caregiver Office (NARN), & the People Barn are the best choices. If you feel dizzy or lightheaded, have muscle cramps, headache, nausea, or overly tired, these are warning signs, stop whatever you're doing, get out of the sun if you're in it and take a break. Drink water and let someone know. Your safety is our number one concern.

Ok that's it for this week, I hope you all have an amazing weekend and week ahead. If your plans take you to the rivers, as I'm sure mine will, know that some are still running dangerously fast from the snow melt. I know, I know I can only say be safe so many times but seriously............be safe!

I hope to see you all out here soon.

Stay Awesome!
